Lyfo and HMD collaborate to boost mobile connectivity

The connectivity pioneers at Lyfo are thrilled to announce their collaboration with European mobile innovator, Human Mobile Devices (HMD). Together, Lyfo and HMD are transforming mobile network connectivity as the HMD XR21 becomes the world’s first smartphone to integrate Lyfo.net. With this integration, HMD XR21 users are always connected to the strongest available network — whether it’s private or public.

Why does this collaboration boost connectivity?

Lyfo.net technology facilitates seamless transitions between mobile networks and addresses one of the most challenging aspects of deploying private mobile networks: automatic connection to private networks upon entry and seamless reconnection to public networks upon exit, without the need for user intervention.

The integration of Lyfo.net into the firmware of the HMD XR21 empowers users to easily take advantage of this technology with any mobile operator, making it an ideal choice for enterprises and organizations that cannot risk losing connection by relying on a single mobile network.

Why is it valuable?

Lyfo.net ensures that HMD XR21 users are always connected to the strongest available network — whether it’s private or public. Previously, HMD XR21 users had to rely on third-party services to deploy Lyfo.net solutions, necessitating external expertise to ensure SIM card compliance.

The collaboration between Lyfo and HMD streamlines this process by enabling users to enjoy plug-and-play connectivity without the complexities of SIM card specialists. This advancement addresses user’s increasing dependence on mobile networks for critical communication, offering a backup when the primary mobile connection falters.

“Thanks to this collaboration, no public operator SIM card adaptation is needed when using specific HMD devices — making Lyfo.net ‘plug-and-play’ and compatible with any public or private network,” says Maurits Zandbergen, CEO of Lyfo.

“We believe private networks are the next big thing for 4G and 5G technologies,” he continued. “However, in cases where the private network experiences issues like coverage limitations, the public network should serve as a backup, and vice versa. With Lyfo, we enable this.”

Bernt von der Decken, Director of Business Development at HMD, also shared his excitement about the collaboration.

“At HMD, we take pride in consistently listening to our enterprise customers and anticipating their evolving needs. Many of our enterprise clients — particularly in the first responder and infrastructure sectors — have expressed the need for a seamless transition between public and private networks, offering them enhanced flexibility.”

With a clear need from mobile customers and advanced technological capability from Lyfo, Zandbergen described the impact of the collaboration.

“This partnership represents a significant leap forward in delivering seamless connectivity. It underscores our commitment to simplifying connectivity and enhancing user experiences.”
